It fits over everything
The deep armhole means it goes over a jacket without pulling anywhere. Nothing else I own does that.
Oversized, dropped shoulder
A deliberately oversized check coat with a dropped shoulder and a hem that finishes below the knee. Cut two sizes larger than the body it is made for.

Oversizing is usually done by grading a pattern up, which makes a bigger coat rather than a different one — the armhole drops, the sleeve twists, and the whole garment reads as a mistake. This is patterned at volume from the start: the shoulder is dropped 60mm by design, the armhole is cut deep and straight, and the sleeve head is flat so it does not fight the drop. The result is a coat you can wear over a jacket, which is what a coat is supposed to be and very few now are.

It is genuinely oversized, as described. I took my usual size and it is exactly the silhouette in the photographs.
