The hides come from a tannery in Tuscany that still pit-tans with chestnut and quebracho bark. We specify no topcoat, which means the leather arrives matte and slightly dry and darkens unevenly across the first year. Panels are cut in a single run so grain reads continuously from shoulder to hem — a constraint that wastes roughly a third of each hide.
